BRUCE A. YUNGCLAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Webster City Community Theatre annually presents a $250 scholarship to a graduate or graduating senior from a Hamilton County school. This scholarship is given in memory of Bruce Alan Yungclas, a long-time member of Webster City Community Theatre who was active on stage, behind the scenes, and made every audience the best.

The applicant must have been active in the theatre arts in his or her high school or community. Preference will be given to applicants who were involved in WCCT productions. The scholarship in non-cumulative, in that if the scholarship is not awarded in any given year, the same $250 scholarship amount will be offered the next year.

Webster City Community Theatre is an organization of theatre amateurs who desire to bring the residents of this community in contact with theatre and enjoy being a part of the theatre world. We offer financial assistance to students who have participated in the theatre arts and who may be interested in receiving further education in that field. However, a theatre arts major is not required to qualify for the scholarship.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES

A review board of Webster City Community Theatre will consider all complete applications submitted. The selection of the scholarship recipient is left entirely to this board. The review board’s final decision will be announced in an appropriate manner, such as the awards assembly at the end of the school year.

The review board’s decision is based on the following criteria:

The applicant must be a resident of a school district serving Hamilton County (or a neighboring county if active in past WCCT productions). S/he must be a graduate of or have met the graduation requirements of that school district.
The applicant must have a “C” average or better upon graduation from his or her school district.
The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited two or four year college.
The applicant must list the names, titles and addresses of three references i.e. teachers, directors or theater members. Be sure to have your references send letters of recommendation to the address below or include them with this application.
The applicant must submit a list of participation in and/or accomplishments in theatre-related activities.
Completed applications must be received by Webster City Community Theatre, PO Box 272, Webster City, IA 50595 no later than Friday, May 6, 2011.
