Tickets go on sale Saturday, July 7 for Webster City Community Theatre’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress”.  The entire family will enjoy this musical comedy based on Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea”. 

Once upon a time in a very small kingdom no one is allowed to marry until the handsome Prince Dauntless (Jordan LeClere) is wed.  The knights and ladies-in-waiting are tired of waiting.  King Sextimus the Silent (Al Yungclas)doesn't have much to say about it, but Queen Aggravain (Barbara Flowerday) insists the bride must be a true princess. 

Attend “Once Upon a Mattress” to find out if Princess Winifred the Woebegone (Liz Crimmins) is sensitive enough to pass the unreasonable test devised by the Queen and the Wizard (Jim Stafford)?  Will she marry the Prince?  Will Sir Harry (Jim Crimmins) and Lady Larken (Caitie Peterson) finally be allowed to wed?  Will the mouse devour the hawk?

Other cast members are

David Borer as the Minstrel); Ken Theobald as the Jester; and Peter Amstalden, Chase Huber, Pat Powers, Mike Peterson, Don Zompa, and Paul Wagner as the knights.  The ladies-in-waiting are Erin Trampel, Allison Bailey, Abby Sturtevant, Mara Borer, Maren Borer, Lily Goettsch, Stephanie Hill and Karin Yungclas.  Gemma and Gianna Borer are the nightingales.  

The play is being directed by Alex Westrum with assistance from music directors Donna Foster and Crystal Gordon and choreographer JoAnna Holt Mischler.

Performances are July 11, 12, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:00 PM with matinees at 2:00 PM on July 15 & 22.  There is no show on July 13 in support of the Hamilton County Relay for Life.  Reserved seat tickets are only $10.  Box office hours are 5-7 PM weeknights and 10 AM to noon on Saturdays, plus one hour prior to each show. 

Tickets for opening night on July 11 are half-price.  General seating tickets will go on sale at the door at       5 PM on July 11.  The discounted tickets can not be reserved in advance.

There will be an encore performance for RAGBRAI on July 24 at 6:30 PM.  General seating tickets are $10.

“Once Upon a Mattress” is produced through special arrangement with Rodgers and Hammerstein Theatricals with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Marshall Barer and Dean Fuller.
